Lauren-Marie Taylor
I'm a native New Yorker who grew up across the street from a cemetery in The Bronx. That eerie experience would subconsciously turn out to serve me well throughout my acting career!
As a teen, I was discovered by a New York talent agent while singing and dancing my way through a production of Oklahoma with Ally Sheedy. Within a month, I was serenading Burger King customers by belting, "Who's got the best darn burger in the whole wide world?" A mountain of appearances in national TV commercials followed, culminating with a recent billboard for a social media company!
Horror fans know me as kind-hearted Vickie in Friday the 13th, Part 2 lurking up the steps of the Packanack Lodge only to discover Sack-head Jason waiting under the covers for me. A night of romance was not on his mind. Or perhaps you remember me as flirty Sheila in Girls Nite Out being slashed by a dodgy stalker in a bear costume.
Soap opera fans can reminisce about my 12 years on ABC's Loving playing girl-next-door, Stacey Donovan-Forbes. Not much horror during that gig, just lots of yelling and crying!
Along with being a guest host for live morning programs across the country, I also hosted the Lifetime show, Handmade by Design. That was kind of a quirky gig since my idea of crafting is making a paper airplane. At least the guests knew what they were doing.
I spent a summer with John Belushi as his daughter, Elaine Keese, working on the dark comedy, Neighbors directed by Academy Award winner John Avildsen. Also in attendance that amazing summer was Dan Aykroyd. He and John would whisk me away from the stage door of my off-Broadway theater gig to concerts at iconic New York City music venues and celebrity birthday bashes. Really good times and, thankfully, no internet yet! 😇
After teaching elementary school in the East Harlem area of New York City and The Bronx for some years, I returned to the big screen as a mysterious woman who knows a bit too much about violence in nature in the aptly titled feature, In A Violent Nature. The ambient Canadian indie horror film, expertly directed by Chris Nash, proudly found itself at the midnight screening during 2024's prestigious Sundance Film Festival.
For the 2024 holidays, you can find me in the British Christmas horror movie, He Sees You When You're Sleeping. This romp takes place in upstate New York and was directed by the talented Charlie Steeds and written by the king of family dysfunction in British horror, David Lenik. I teamed up with Charlie and David again this year for a film shot in Atlanta.
I still live in New York with my husband, our three dogs, a bunch of cats, and the wildlife that roam our property searching for an unsecured garbage can or two. Obviously an animal lover, I volunteer with Pointer Rescue Organization helping to transport abandoned pointer pups
of all ages to their furever homes.
Howdy Campers!
